| OOS for both, Purdue slightly cheaper. Larger number of undergrad engineers at Purdue and worried about competition issues and ability to get to know professors. Any input would be appreciated! |

Purdue.
More reputed engineering. More on campus hiring. |
| Purdue!!!!!! |
Is UMD direct admission to their specific discipline? A friends daughter is there and she had to keep grades really high to get the engineering special she wanted. All things being equal I’d go Purdue, but both excellent. |
| Purdue, top 10 for almost every engineering, known and respected world wide. |

If your kid keeps up with their studies, they will be successful at either school.
My neighbors' kids have done well graduating from UMD Engineering. Location matters though. I would ask them to choose based on what campus/environment/location they like better. |
wrong |
| Maryland - more internship opportunities being close to a big city and on the east coast. Purdue is in the middle of nowhere and campus is ugly. |
I don’t think the campus is ugly. It’s not as picturesque as other campuses but it’s not ugly. Most of the buildings are decent, almost federal style brick. Many of them are amazing on the inside. But, to each their own. |

| Purdue is overrated. |
| UMD has more national prestige generally, but both are fantastic options. |
| Purdue. CP is a dump. |
| They are both good schools. Purdue is more highly regarded outside of DMV, the name has persisted for a long long time as a top engineering school. Purdue's campus in my opinion, blows away CP - which is crowded, always under construction and just not that nice. On the other hand, UMD does have a VERY strong DMV regional presence and their cybersecurity area is very strong due to this. They also have some interesting things going on with Computer engineering such as IONQ. They have solid programs in general, but I think if you went to most other big cities outside of mid Atlantic, Purdue will be the name people key in on before UMD. They both have good programs but I prefer the culture of Purdue with it's midwest friendliness and ethics. |
| CP is not a dump. Get off route 1 and walk around |
