I didn’t lose my job at state dept

Anonymous
The state department has released its official reorganization. Many of us are safe.

I didn’t lose my job. To celebrate, I purchased about $80 dollars worth of food and took it to the national capital food bank today. I’m also treating myself to dinner at STK. I just need this little bit of joy to compensate for several sleepless nights, squirreling away money, sending out my resume like a crazy woman, and cancelling summer vacation.

I hope the grace extended to me can be extended to others.

Glad to hear it!

Glad to hear it, but you didn't lose your job YET OP. This administration is unpredictable and 15% of your coworkers are losing theirs...

I’m not claiming anything negative today. I’m claiming employment and will help out my fellow state colleagues where I can. Our bureau has many reassignment postings listed as well.

Can anyone link to the reorg?

I'm very happy for you, OP, and think your food bank donation was very kind.

My husband was USAID and he has mourned the loss of a nearly 25 year meaningful government career.

I hope you remain safe.

+1 I mourn the loss of so many decent public servants trying to do the right thing. But glad you're safe for now OP.

I’m glad you kept your job, OP. But won’t ot be hard to work for this administration and the damage it is doing in America and worldwide?

That's great to hear, OP! Thank you for your donation.

I continue to hold the ones who did lose their jobs in my thoughts, feds and contractors and service workers. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Hang in there, PP whose husband lost his USAID career.

I am so happy for you and others who got to keep their jobs in this latest State Dept overhaul. I hope it stays this way and majority families have their livelihood intact. Very thoughtful gesture for food donation, karma will remember the kind gesture. Many hugs and peace to you!

That is very kind of you OP.

Enjoy your dinner!

That’s awesome, OP.

My DH hasn’t been let go yet either. It’s still on the table though. We’ll keep doing deep breathing exercises.

As a child of a Republican State Department retiree, I want you to have my thanks and gratitude. I am very, very liberal and even have criticism of State for being too conservative at times, but you only have to know one person at State to know the dedication and sacrifice so many have given over the years. It’s a damn shame it’s not shouted from the rooftops:diplomacy is the road to peace.

I wish peace for your family, a swift change in this government, and a wake up call for all the former State folks who voted for this mess.
