Late Admissions

Anonymous
I was hoping and praying my kid would be accepted to a lottery charter school, but it didn't happen.

Any schools in the proximate area of North Laurel/ Howard County that are still open to admissions this late in the year for 9th grade fall admissions?

You won't typically find a ton of expertise on this board about schools in that geo, but probably makes sense to call around.

Palotti seems to have some disipline issues wouldn’t recommend unless REALLY in a pinch.

???????!!!!

Date stamps are your friend. The suggestion was made before the closure announcement. SSFS has been a popular recommendation on this board in the past.

I had suggested it and I am heartbroken for our DC there. My suggestion was a sincere one bc we loved the community so much and now feel completely blindsided. I can’t believe I suggested a school that would close 2 days later.

Key School in Annapolis? Not sure if that would be too far.

Stone Ridge is still accepting in 9th grade. But that isn't around the area that you're looking for I think.

Stone Ridge probably stopped because they've started placement test and it's 30-60 minutes away from the area OP is looking for.

Would not recommend. The chaos around the effort to keep the school open is bonkers. And even if it works, it currently only keeps the school running for three years. That puts anyone starting 9th next year in a position of looking for a new school for senior year, which would suck, or having to transfer again in a year or two. Don’t do it.

Is this for a boy or a girl? Pallotti is probably your safest bet either way. If a girl, perhaps try Seton.
