Weighted arm exercises without weights

Anonymous
Three times a week I work out at home with 5 lb weights. I am going to stay at someone else's house next week and can't bring the weights. I would like to not lose momentum. I don't think pushups will help, but ... will they? Are there arm exercises I can do without weights for my biceps and deltoids, etc.? Holding a can of beans won't cut it.

Chair dips, wall push ups, planks, resistance bands, jugs of water are 8 lb.

Pushups are great. They will likely do more for you than 5lbs weights. Get some resistance bands. You can easily hit your entire upper body with those.

Jugs of water are 8lbs? All jugs?

Most people have small handweights at home. Can you ask your host if they have any you can borrow while you stay there?

All gallon jugs are 8lbs.

Why can't you bring 5lb weights? I mean they are tiny and, honestly, I doubt 5lb weights are doing much for you anyway. It sounds like you have a great routine, which is more than half the battle; however, if you want to make gains in strength and/or muscle size, you need to increase weight every week or so, so, unless you just started weight training 2-3 weeks ago, your gains have probably stalled and you are wasting your time with 5lb weights. If you are doing it to lose weight and/or fat in those areas, weights won't do it. Your diet does.

Yes they are. However, the post just said "jugs of water"...so I was just joking around when I said "all jugs?"

Push ups are one of the best upper body exercises. Bodyweight exercises are often more challenging to me, so my suggestion would be to seek out a bodyweight only workout so you can workout without taking the weights with you.

Resistance bands are incredibly versatile.

Get a kettle size tidal tank. You can drain it for travel as needed

You're wrong in thinking pushups won't help, they're pretty much the best arm exercise that exists. Even more so because they're more of a full body exercise than an arm exercise. Add in some dips off a chair and you're golden.

One week off will not set you off terribly. As long as you get back to it when you get home.

But like others have said, try some body weight moves.
