DC is in a large prom group - they’re expecting upwards of 50 people. They already have their party bus which cost more than $100 each.
Now, he’s claiming dinner will be $75 per child! Is that a reasonable price for dinner? They’re going to a somewhat-nice DC restaurant. Does anyone have any other dinner restaurants I can suggest? |
| Not reasonable to me. But, for 50 kids, they should be able to get a private room and it be cheaper. |
|
That seems high, but also not shocking if it includes appetizers, cocktails, sodas, main course and dessert. The cost also includes the tip. Unfortunately eating out is expensive.
|
| Mocktails not cocktails- my phone auto corrected, haha! |
| It seems reasonable to me. What do you want Cheesecake Factory? |
| Just grateful you don’t have to shell out for a dress and shoes I’m hearing $1000 from friends |
|
Are they going to The Inn in Little Washington?
Yes, OP, these prices are outrageous. No doubt a few queen bees appointed themselves to make all these decisions. Can DC break off with a smaller group? You aren’t the only parent questioning this. |
You are joking but last time I went there it was $150 for 3 of us!! No alcohol and 2 were kids! |
You think you can eat at the Inn at Little Washington and tip for $75? LOL. ok. The tasting menu is about $400 pp. |
| Our prom tickets alone are $160 a person! That does include dinner, but prom costs have gone through the roof. And some girls are spending $500+ on dresses. My area is not ultra wealthy (homes between 500k and 1.5 mil very max) so it is shocking to me. |
Where are they eating? 50 people are going to dinner? |
Right that’s cheap compared to where OP’s kid is going. |
Are you kidding, that is ulltra wealthy. Are you at a private? |
No, this is a very large public school in a burb. I don't think it is extra wealthy at all. Home values have just gone through the roof (we bought for 400k and are not rich!) |
Who on earth wants to eat that much before going to a dance? When you’re all dressed up? That doesn’t sound fun. |
