Have a week off in August, husband is dead-set on taking the dog and making it a road trip .... not excited about this, but as I've planned/picked most vacations, trying to run with it.
Where should we go from NoVA? We love/have done Outer Banks/Rehoboth ... NYC not great with a dog. Any ideas? |
West Virginia?
Hudson Valley? Do you like outdoorsy stuff like hikes/water sports? |
We like hiking, kids are fantastic swimmers, haven't tried many water sports?
Where in West Virginia would you go? Wondering about Pigeon Forge or Dollywood as well? |
Go to great smoky mountain national park and Dollywood. Do the under canvas there. |
What kind of dog?
My Pomeranian, not very outdoorsy, only likes hotel stays and city walks. LOL. |
Definitely think Great Smokey Mountains is a great idea. Just find dog friendly accommodations. |
if DH is dead set on a road trip, he can be the one to plan it. |
August? Go north for a chance of nice temps. Upstate NY. New England.
NYC is awful in August. With a dog? Definitely not. |
I don’t see how you could take a dog anywhere but the beach. Or like, a lake I guess? A cabin in the woods? |
Head north in August. Adirondacks, White Mts, Finger Lakes, Vermont. All are pretty dog-friendly. |
Ours is a sled dog so we take him to Maine.
Too hot for him elsewhere |
This sounds great IMHO. |
Aug is too hot for a road trip. |
Pawleys Island, SC, is very dog friendly. |
Hudson River Valley, Berkshires, maybe Vt |
