Maryland’s immigration bill

Looks like Maryland will continue to allow the restrictions against ice. But is the governor going to sign this?

I think the conference committee report is more accurate and informative than the news article. Perhaps the reporter didn't have access to it yet this morning when they wrote the article.

The final bill merely prohibits ICE officials from accessing non-public portions of government facilities. Unless ICE has a criminal warrant or there are exigent circumstances. Which is what they would need to come into your house for a criminal arrest.

Most immigration violations are civil, and that's why we shouldn't be detaining people, just to hold them until ICE arrives.

It looks like the amendment to incorporate the 48 hour standard hold was rejected during conference committee.

There's nothing controversial here, IMO. And I assume the Governor will sign it.

Nothing or no one is not going to stop ICE.

There are too many negatives in there for anyone to understand your actual point

Why is this the hill folks want to die on, and defending gang members. Don't elected folks have other pressing issues with constituents, like high taxes, high cost of living, schools in decline, crime, and lack of corporations wanting to do business there compared to neighboring states?

It’s not gang members.

Also if you allow the feds to come into someone else’s house without a warrant, then they can come to your house without a warrant.

Is that okay with you?

"exigent circumstances"

ICE had been smashing car windows and ambushing people in the street due to "exigent circumstances".

Except they aren't gang members. Please educate yourself. 90% of those sent to El Salvador did not have a criminal record. 12 had a violent crime conviction or arrest. But I guess it's easier to just believe the propaganda that MAGA is spewing to keep fueling your hate instead of educating yourself.
