Slow responder weight lose injection

Anonymous
I have been on prescribed Zepbound for four months and lost ten pounds. That is great but it doesn't seem to have made much of a dent when I see myself in pictures or fitting into my clothes.

It feels disheartening to spend this money every month (insurance does help cover some) and see such minimal progress. Especially when you see some amazing transformations in that same time period online! Anyone else just a super slow responder? I am eating such small portions, prioritizing protein, exercising regularly. It is frustrating.

I felt like a relatively slow responder, and I ended up making my goal weight over the long-term. I would take a beat and start calorie tracking to confirm you were eating to your maintenance calories and you are eating the correct amount of protein. I needed to eat 140 g of protein daily and around 1400 cal to ensure weight loss. I also had to cut back on my weight training and focus mainly on walking. Once my weight loss got moving I was able to incorporate weight training now and then and eyeball my protein and calories.

My husband has been a slow responder. He’s been on Ozempic for five months and has only lost about 20 to 25 pounds. I think the expectation is for more weight loss however I think slow weight loss is better because your body has a opportunity to rebound and you don’t have the loose and haggard look. So maybe it’s a blessing in disguise.

What is your dosage? Even in trials, some people didn't lose weight until they titrated to 12.5 or 15 mg. I don't think you can judge until you are up to those levels.

Thanks. I am at 7.5 right now and I had side effects for the first time so I was hoping this would be the right dosage for me! Maybe it is also my age and perimenopause - I am in my mid 40s. I haven't lost any weight in the last few weeks. I will double check my calorie intake and try to be patient.

I’ve had an amazing transformation on Wegovy, but I’ve been on it a year. Be patient; you didn’t gain it overnight and you won’t lose it overnight.

No — expected weight loss, according to Novo, is between 1/2 and 1 pound per week. Your DH is doing really well.

I've been on it for 4 months and have lost 2 pounds, so that should make you feel better. I'm on 7.5 and haven't had a single side effect which makes me think that my body is just not responding much. I do have decreased appetite and get full faster but there is still some food noise.

You'll still end up looking haggard, just a side effect of losing weight. You look 10 years older too.

I was a slow responder, it took a couple months to start losing, then it was 0.5-1 lb/week. Over the next six months I lost 20 lbs. I was happy with a slower experience as I felt pretty good and the loss felt more natural. People only started to notice after 9 months when I had to buy new pants.

Glad to know I am not the only one! You only see amazing success stories online.

I didn't see any weight loss on Wegovy until I started the 1mg dose...

Are you exercising? Changing your eating habits.?

How many calories are you eating? It seems counterintuitive but I lose more weight when I eat higher calories (at least 1400)

I haven't been counting calories, only protein based on the advice of my doctor. But maybe that is bad advice! The problem is I definitely still have food noise and I am pretty hungry by my last day before my injection. I guess I thought it would be reduced by now on a higher dose of 7.5.

I am on a 7.5 dose after taking a two month break and I have done this twice. I found that the second week's dose is more noticeable than the first. My appetite is extremely decreased during the second week while it was maybe only a bit during the first week.

I have taken it over 14 months. There were shortages and a time when I went off it to save money (not using insurance either) so Ive taken about 8-9 months of dosages total. It took about six months to see results where people noticed ithe weight loss. Now I have gone down two pant sizes and from a large to medium size in tops. My bra size has decreased both around and by cup size. I am much smaller everywhere. I have lost about 40 pounds. I looked decent but had an obese BMI and I was tired of that.

TL;DR: give it time. For me I feel it has been a good investment in myself and worth the cost.
