DC is having a shadow day at Gonzaga. The info on their website seems to say both. Will it be okay to wear sneakers or do I need to go buy a pair of shoes for the visit?
We bought shoes. I would not wear sneakers. Seems an odd time for a shadow day. Did you get off the waitlist?
Definitely wear white socks though.
OP here, Its a 7th grade shadow day
Wear what the students wear.
I'd have him wear loafers. My DS wore his Catholic School uniform to his 7th day shadow, his friends either wore that or dress shorts with a collared shirt and pullover quarter zip.
As an employee, shoes don't matter. He will look out of place if he is not in khakis/slacks and a collared shirt.
Try Goodwill if you can’t afford new ones.
Wear what your kid wears for his school uniform. |
My son just did the 7th grade session last Thursday. They sent an email on Monday evening before saying they could wear khaki shorts, collared golf shirt, and sperry-type loafers.
No sneakers. Follow the students dress code.
OP, sneakers aren’t allowed under the dress code. Just have your son wear sperrys or church shoes. 99% of the boys will be in sperrys. Also, have him wear khakis.
Most students wear a collared shirt, quarter zip or a Gonzaga sweatshirt if it’s cold that day, khakis, and Sperry loafers. No need to buy those specific shoes - any dress shoe is fine. But, I would wear dress shoes and not sneakers since the students aren’t allowed to wear sneakers. I’m sure it’s fine for a shadow day, but your DS probably would feel more comfortable if he’s dressed similar to the students.
And the collared shirt is generally a short sleeved polo shirt. |

Mine wore sneakers to his shadow day last fall. He was offered admissions this cycle.
I wouldn’t worry about it. Wear what is comfortable. |
