I've already moved beyond the doom impact that surely follows Trumps initiatives on the tariff front - in fact his whole economic agenda or plans - whatever they be.
I'm interested in figuring out how the key players globally will realign and how long term, this may play out for not just the US but globally. Any thoughts? I think Canada/EU will partner substantially on many fronts as well as S. Asia aligning with China. I think China will win on many fronts globally esp since they have already set in motion the ability to engage much of African raw material/minerals on the market. I'm curious how Mexico will fare. Also curious about the timeline of realigned global econ partnerships and how they will hit the US? Honestly, I really see China winning big in the sense that they have some very smart people in government (while we have currently prob the dumbest)! |
It will last for as long as he’s in office and possibly longer if another maga goes in. We will be shut out until we can demonstrate reliability and trust. That’s not happening with the current administration and possibly the next.
The global economy will continue on without us. It may not be comfortable for them, but they will carry on. |
The smart money is backing China. |
Are you an economist? Do you work at World Bank or IMF?
Otherwise, will this really affect you, or are you concerned about the price of Acai Blueberry drink this summer at SBucks? |
There is a European zone, an Asia Zone and and Africa-Asia zone.
the US won;t be in any of them and will fall very far behind because we have an orange menace in the white house. |
Canada will move out of the US's orbit and move toward Europe. Australia/NZ will also move toward Europe. |
Canadian here. This will outlive Maga. We now know that we are always 4 years away from another nutcase in the Whitehouse. We cannot trust or rely on the US again. |
Maybe? Germany made a hard shift after Hitler |
He needs to be impeached and now. |
It took US support of West Germany to allow other Europeans to trust Germany. Who is going to provide that support for the US to allow other countries to trust the US again? |
The global economic alliance already exists:
the World Economic Forum. |
China will be the center of gravity globally
and will have more influence with resource rich nations like Saudi Arabia, Russia, Brazil under the BRIC alliance. USA biggest advantage is its currency is the world’s reserve currency and for a lot of stupid mistakes that is being eroded slowly. |
The rest of the world will have relatively free trade with each other. The US and all of its trading partners will have tariffs with each other. The only losers here are the American consuming public and American companies. |
Understand how you feel, but don’t think MAGA can’t happen in Canada or Europe. Trump learned from Orban, and every other country has a populist right wing that’s learning from Trump. Every democratic country is one election away from becoming like the US. |
That is true. Canada can also elect a nutcase. But a nutcase leader of Canada or Hungary cannot destroy the world economy. My point is that US hegemony is gone and will probably never return. |
