Hawaii vs Yosemite

Anonymous
We will be in San Fran this summer. We are wondering if we should do hawaii (Maui) or Yosemite (rush creek lodge) as the second part of the trip. The kids are 11 and 14. I know they are both different trips and I think the kids would honestly
enjoy both and I can’t pick.

Hawaii. Yosemite will likely be full of garbage.

So I've been to all 3 places and I would just make it easy and do Rush + SF. Are you able to do a lot of time on this trip given that flying to Maui not the same is driving from SF to Yosemite?

Rush Creek Lodge is one of my favorite places - I'm partial to W. coast resorts because they are in proximity to the national parks - they just do it so well. You get the pool, spa, food, ability to see the parks easily. The E coast resorts suck after you go there there LOL

Maui is beautiful but I would save it for a stand alone or combine that with Kawaii or something - that's just me. I would not do HI + SF. It depends of course how much time you have but Yosemite is really cool ESP if you're able to stay at Rush!

Thanks so much! Will stick to Yosemite this trip.

Your kids will be bored at Yosemite. They would like beaches at Hawaii but there are cheaper beach vacation places that would help locals in other countries rather than the rich resorts in Hawaii, if you have a passport.

My kids have been to both places, and would absolutely pick Hawaii over Yosemite. They talk about Hawaii being their favorite place they’ve ever been, and they have been lucky enough to travel to a ton of cool places. If you have at least 5-7 days to do Hawaii, I’d go for that. I used to go all the time for just a long time when I lived in San Fran.

Op here-we only have 4 days

Your kids will not be bored at Rush creek lodge. Maui hands down is the better destination but with 4 days enjoy Yosemite and do 8 days in Maui separately. You will love Rush. You should try seeing the redwoods in those parts.

Listen I hate camping and I'm not a national park girl. I'm only into fun outdoor activities v hiking and I loved Rush. We never go anywhere 2x and I'd go back to Rush creek lodge. There's very very few places I would go back to.

Yosemite is going to be a mess due to cuts to NPS. I love the national parks dearly but this summer is likely to be rough.

Thanks for the info..this is op and I am leaning towards rush creek lodge. We have booked a tour through the property and this way we won’t need a reservation to get into the park, if they do start taking them. I’m hoping booking a tour helps in some way.

Including or not including travel days? If that includes travel days then no —don’t go to Hawaii.
