Can it be traced? |
It depends...probably not. Get a private investigator. |
a PI! great idea! |
What did it say? |
or are you thinking of sending one? |
No, I'm not thinking of sending one. My mother received a verbally abusive typed card in the mail (also directed toward me). And although I have my suspicions, I'd like to actually have the proof to support them. |

Is it a neighbor? If so, seal it up and stick in in their mailbox.
If they walk it back over to you like the mail man screwed up, it wasn't them. If they don't return it to you, it's probably them. |
I've heard you can trace printed and copied material to a specific printer or copier machine. But do not think that applies to typed material. |
DNA testing on the envelope, if it is the kind they lick. |
Can you think of an alternative way of dealing with this? What ammunition does the proof of authorship give you? We don't know what the message said, other than it being rude and hurtful, were threats made?
Do you think that instead of engaging and feeding this situation, you could handle it in a way that doesn't sap anymore of your time or energy? |
Because this is not the first time we've been harassed anonymously, in order for it to end, I'd have to confront the person, which poses no problem for me!

Can the post office help out? Let them know you and your mom are being harassed by mail. Are there laws against this or threats by mail? |
OP, you say you suspect who the culprit might be-what are these suspicions based on? Why have you not contacted the police? |
