| Feedback on these programs for developing a young female player? Located in Tysons so could make either work. Considering leaving Arlington bc drive is becoming untenable with RTO and increasing traffic. |
| Well it's tryout season... sign up for both and see for yourself. |
Yes, I’m aware and signed up for both already. Asking for experience with these clubs and how they develop young girls. |
|
you need to meet the coaches- its less about the club and more about the individual coaching the team.

Vienna- more focused on fun
MYS- more competitive and just by nature more pressure on players You decide what you like |
DP but also considering Vienna for this age group. Is the focus on fun only at the younger ages? Do they get more structured and serious about training at older ages? |
McLean. They’re not even in the same league. |
| McLean |
| McLean just lost their TD. Will the same level of development be there as previous years when their reputation was built? |
Yes, we’ll be just fine Vienna. |
|
This is second hand, but I have a vote for McLean.
Vienna somehow overlooked our friend's talented DD at u9 and put her on the 2nd team, when McLean put her on the Top Team and she is Pre-ECNL caliber U12 now. It made her mom so frustrated, she left. Her DD is amazing and was not thriving at Vienna. Just my 2cents and that kid is good, not sure why they couldn't see that at Vienna. |
| I'd take your daughter to both and see where she is happier with the other kids. U9 is so young, find a place that she likes her team-mates and the coaches (and that the parents aren't nuts at tryouts) and choose that way. |
For better development go to McLean. Those early years are crucial development years. Don’t waste them. |
| My knowledge only comes from one age bracket and a higher one but Mclean teams have always been tough to play against because they actually move the ball around yet Vienna in all the years we've played literally tries to punt and kick up to the fast strong girl. And if they happen to score they pack everyone into their penalty box to play defense. So you can obviously see who is teaching and who is reaching for wins even though they come far and few between. |
That kickball style seems a lot like what they do Union. Vienna must be the birthplace of such mid to below level play. Our 2nd and 3rd teams at McLean are better options than any team at Vienna. |
