I know they're confidential - to the point they dont want anyone to even say they happen - but apparently they still do happen.
anyone know what colleges do this? |
|
I bet Georgetown bcs they're just coming out of the 1980s
|
| I hope not, I think it’s gross. Our school won’t do them. Mine got off an Ivy waitlist from a public, only a LOCI. |
| None that you care about. Sorry, it’s not 1980 anymore. |
| How would anyone know? |
I guess hoping for personal experience or loose lips? I’d think even the boarding schools with close relationships would be treading carefully in today’s world, but I don’t know… |
| Yeah, don't do this. |
| None of the ones this forum thinks is worthy of attending. |
What's a counselor call? |
High school counselor calls AO and pitches a kid saying you want them. |
|
our high school counselor says they happen, but not often, and they can't talk about them.
they only happen now during WL period apparently and college call counselor not vice versa. also, let's be clear: they're calling maybe 10 high schools total. |
| Most counselor calls are pre-application to get a sense of how the school might view a particular profile from a given school, not a specific kid. It's a part of the college regional reps getting to know the schools in their regions. |
| Colleges call counselors more often than you might think. Our counselor knew which week they were reviewing my kid's app. |
| I’ve heard of two things, advocacy calls where HS calls AO on waitlist to push for them, and then others colleges calling HS to ask if this kid is likely to attend if taken off (schools that care about yield). Don’t think either happen often. |
That’s not a counselor call |
