| I don't have regular house cleaners, but this same company came for Christmas. I gave a nice tip, since it was Christmas. Usually, two of them come: one owns the company, and the other is her employee. How much would you tip? They are not overly expensive for the DMV. The house is less than 2,500 sq. ft. I clear the surfaces and put things away before they come and it is not deep cleaning, just regular cleaning. Many thanks for your suggestions and advice. |
| We tip 15% for bimonthly cleaning. Then maybe 25-30% at Christmas. |
Thanks so much! |
| We do not tip, bc it's not a company. we pay a full bonus at xmas. 1x cleaning. |
Well, I am not sure if this is a company. It is one lady who owns it and she cleans herself and has a helper. |

I give each cleaner on the team a $25 tip.
When I had cleaners do a deep clean I gave them $50 each. |
We have a cleaning woman who is self employed. She comes every week. We pay her agreed on hourly rate. No tip. End of year we give her 2.5x weekly rate. |
If this were me, and perhaps you already do, but I would tip them separately. There are times where the owner does not pass on the tip to the worker. Or gives them your money in lieu of their own company bonus. Kudos to you for doing this. There are too many folks who simply treat household/landscape employees in ways they would not allow themselves to be treated at their own places of employment. |
I pretty much do the same here. I also pay for Christmas/New Year's off (even if it does not fall on the work day), so I pay for Christmas/NY off + bonus. I also try to give off w/pay when we are out of town if I can manage that with the timing. We usually go away for 2-3 weeks in August, so if we leave on a Saturday, then I ask our cleaner, who comes in on Thursdays, if she wants to delay till later that Saturday or early the following week. Then she will not have to return until the Thursday after our return. She clearly appreciates a 2 or 3 week paid vacation as all of us do. |
| Only at Christmas. If they want Kotex they should charge more. I give a 100% tip at Christmas. |
