UVA, UNC or UCLA?
All are OOS. High achieving, social girl who is interested in stats/data science. Possibly in economics/finance. Any thoughts appreciated. Thank you! |
| UCLA, of course! Or UNC if you really love it. |
| Whichever you kid likes best. |
| These are splitting hairs to me, I’d go with whichever location or vibe appeals. Could also consider where they’d like to land after college. |
| UVA is superior |
No |
| UVA has a new school of data science that may present exciting options. Congrats to your DD on getting into so many schools that seem to fit her social and academic needs! Guessing she would thrive at any of the three. |
| Apply to all three. If you get into one or more, great. |
| Visit and see! I wouldn’t pick UNC over UVA if she’s been a high achiever and academically inclined. The OOS kids are very different from the in state kids, academic speaking, and she may feel out of place. |
I assumed the kid has already been admitted to all three. |
| Admissions are done and these are the choices. This is the original poster. Thank you again. |
| Our child sounds similar to your and they absolutely loved UNC and so did we. |
|
U Virginia for data science.
Does UNC still have an imbalance of women over men ? If so, this might be a factor to consider. UCLA if the student wants to grow by experiencing a different area of the country. |
| I think the first cut is West Coast vs. East. |
| UNC Chapel Hill. |
