Your kids will be complaining by the end of day 2. Why Disneyland?

Why don't you make a list of things you're interested in, and see how you feel each day. You may not want to wander around the imperial palace gardens on day 2 if it's raining or very hot. I did a walking tour there and enjoyed it, but I could see an 8 year old with little knowledge of horticulture and history being bored.

The best food we found was by accident. Same with some of the things we saw - a wedding procession at a temple, 7-5-3 children's day, the craziest toy store ever.

Research the subway to speed up travel. There are two different subway companies and Japan rail in Tokyo, so you'll either need a combo ticket or work out how to get around using just one company (which I managed). The underground subway tunnels are vast, so research which exit is best to save your feet - the exits are numbered and tourist info will usually indicate which exit is closest.

Disnwyland is a package deal with Disney Sea, and the kids were very interested in that. They've never been to Disney before

You do have to get them in advance but they're available now for July

Where are you seeing that? I only see April tickets on sale (sold out) with May tickets going on sale April 10

Day 2 Shibuya scramble makes no sense unless your Ikebana class is there also. It's literally just an intersection. Do it on Day 4 with the rest of your Shibuya/Harajuku itinerary.

The package is good because you can prebook some rides. Just keep in mind that July is very hot in Japan and the lines at Tokyo Disneyland are intense. People complain of crowds in the US parks but they are nothing in comparison. People don’t bat an eye at a 2 hour line and will line up to enter the park at 5AM.

PP- I would also switch Day 2 and 3. Take advantage of jet lag for Tsukiji. Then go back to your hotel and rest before museum.

If you are heading north I'd be tempted to swap out Disneyland for Nikko.

The kids want to do Disneyland and Disney sea. It's a package deal and we don't have to wait in line for the rides. I'm down with that
