what were your 3.7 GPA private school kids safeties?

Anonymous
it's a good school with loads of kids going to HYPSM.

and there's a chance the gpa will be 3.8 at the time of app.

so we know the reaches (not HYP, I know that much).

wondering what safeties you had on your list. we'd like maybe 3? mostly small or medium sized privates, east coast preferred

Our cco told everyone safeties mean acceptance greater than 20%.

Is that a weighted or unweighted gpa? Test scores? What decile or quartile are they (I realize most privates don’t rank, but the school should be able to give you a sense)? Subjects of interest?

Really? I’ve always heard that target is 30-60%, safety is >60%.

Tulane was not a safety for girls with a 3.7 UW at Big3 schools this year. I know at least 4 who never got in (currently waitlisted or rejected) with GPAs 3.7-3.8.

DC chose sub 15% schools as safeties. CCO smashed it down—must be over 20%.

No, only the bottom few go to 60% at our school. So no.

Have to worry about yield protection. No way this student goes to Elon.

Is this a girl or a boy? Suggestions vary quite a bit.

This.

Our safeties were Vermont, Pitt (rolling), CU-Boulder. You can add U-Mass Amherst if you want Northeast.

What school? My DC goes to a top private in NYC and we were told 60%+ for safeties.
