Sounds like GOP will allow vote on Democratic's 30 day CR, which will fail. Then vote on GOP's six month CR, which some democratic will support to get the CR passed (given that Republican agrees a vote on Democratic's bill).

They might as well have voted for the CR. I get it they didn't have any good choices here but I think this just makes them look weak to get a concession that is basically meaningless.

Your title makes it seem like an agreement has been reached, which it hasn't.

" Senate Democrats are considering a plan that would pave the way for a GOP bill to keep the government funded for six months in exchange for a doomed-to-fail vote on their own 30-day alternative, facing an uncomfortable choice between allowing the Republican measure to pass or letting the government shut down."

Are you new here? This is how it's worked for over a decade. Congress's number 1 job is to fund the government, but no, that's too hard to do in a timely manner.

This is nuts.

When AOC and Fetterman agree with each other, you know the Democrats are just controlled fauxpposition.

Well, it seems they will agree each other, so it is almost certain that GOP's CR will be passed.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters Thursday morning that his office has been in touch with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's staff, but Democrats haven't made a formal offer. Thune noted that if Democrats want a vote on the 30-day continuing resolution in exchange for helping Republicans reach the 60-vote threshold on the House-passed bill, Republicans are "open to that."

Praying for no shutdown, which I think will be used to justify firing thousands and not reopening entire agencies.

+1. Waste of time with the theatrics.

There will be no shutdown because democrats are doormats.

The current CR with no restrictions will do the same. Trump is already plotting how to do it. It’s an enabling act.

With the current CR, you will be RIFed legally.

Yes and as a very liberal democrat who is a government contractor that is not allowed to work during a shutdown (and therefore not paid, never will be paid), I'm pissed. I WANT the government to shut down.
