I mean if you can afford it, you get a new dress.
But if budget is tight then just tell her no new dress. Tbh though, if you start looking now, you can thrift a great dress for prom without spending a ton of money because —as you pointed out—they only really wear them once.
Then she’ll have two that she can take to college to wear to a formal event there if something comes up.

No. New one.

I really wish fcps would host some sort of prom dress swap event across a few schools…or maybe one of the computer classes could design an app where girls can post photos of their dress (faces blurred or cropped out)with the sizing and then they could switch with someone on the app.

Is it possible to dye or alter it to make it look fresh?

Some do/have dress dress swaps

I was also going to suggest trading with a friend. Otherwise, yes to a new dress.

Definitely a new dress. If your office had a fancy gala once a year, you wouldn't wear the same dress 2 years in a row, so why would you expect your daughter to do the same? If she can trade with a friend, great. If not, give her a budget and let her go shopping for a new dress

Of course not. If it fits they will wear it again.

How much did you spend on the first one?
