I was doing so good with working out 5 days a week. I was making it back to my PRs and running. I am turning 52 soon. I have been away for work and off the grid because of it for two weeks. I managed two workouts in that time span. I feel down that i am set back. How do I organize myself mentally for next week? |
Do not count on motivation. Tap into your discipline! Just get that workout in, one at a time! |
Get back on the wagon and resume the program you were doing 2 weeks ago. Don’t overthink it. Don’t look back, look forward. |
Set an alarm on your phone and have a read for yourself after ![]() |
Get a little mini notebook journal. Log date month etc of all workouts and duration. Very motivating. I just start new page for month. On 1st of every month I track a couple metrics. Inches to my waist etc. So I can see change from previous month. But the metric doesn't matter. The metric could be how many hrs of exercise you got. Or yoir weight. Or average heart bpm. It's just nice to look through the months. And it's satisfying and motivating to fill another line or page. I was on business travel and missed a couple days. But it was easier to get back on the routine esp looking at my routine. Atomic Habits they talk about making habit satisfying. This is one way I make it satisfying. |
DP. I don’t follow this. |
Just get back to it. You only have todY. |
OP here. Thank you so much for the motivation. I tapped into my inner discipline and went for a run after my work event today. To be continued. ![]() |
