With all the news now about chemicals such as parabens, I am looking for appropriate paraben-free products for my eight month old. Any suggestions beyond California Baby and Burts Bee?
Thanks. |

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the Earth Mama Angel Baby stuff.

| We use Earth's Best Shampoo and Body Wash. It is sold at Babies R Us, not sure where else. J&J products (and others) always made him break out, but his skin has been fine with Earth's Best. It has no parabens or SLS. |
| What is paraben? Are baby bath products now on a list of things not to use? This is really getting ridiculous. I transitioned baby from bottle to cup only to learn that the bottles (and the cups) are bad! And we have been using Johnsons and Huggies bath products since birth and now there is potential harm with doing that? UGH! I am almost afraid to go look this up! |

Asking myself the same question this AM, I found this website VERY helpful. Lots of info all in one place:
http://safemama.com/2008/02/10/cheat-sheet-paraben-phthalate-free-baby-care/ We're on our way to Whole Foods to get some Weleda baby products. Hope they work! |
| Will someone please post a link to the actual research (not some else's summary of a summary) of the risks of parabens? Thanks. |
|
We use Aquafor Baby Wash that we purchase at Buy Buy Baby.
And just an FYI PP - you can Google pretty much any topic yourself and find and answer to your research question. Why wait for someone else to post a link when the answer is at your finger tips? |
Yes, I know how to google. I wrote because I don't see the actual reliable research that has gotten everyone so upset. I am curious whether others have found something else. |
| Good grief, is it that hard to change the products you are using? SLS is not good for your baby (or you), period. |

Enter the ingredient you're curious about. They provide citations to back up their scores (though I confess, I haven't actually looked for the actual reports - I trust their legwork) |
Statements like this is why I ask for actual citations. |

Thanks -this is very useful. |
| PP using the Earth's Best here. I do realize that some of these studies are controversial and that it isn't necessarily clear whether certain ingredients or products really are bad for my child. And I realize that I could get myself in a tizzy worrying to death about this, that and the other. But for things that are simple to replace, like body wash/shampoo and bottles (to an extent), I figure I just might as well switch. Is it possible that another study could come out later saying something in the new products is bad for my little one? Absolutely, but I'll deal with that later. And just because I switch doesn't mean my kid will be healthier or less healthy than someone's kid who didn't switch. |
Thank you for catching my typo. Feel better? |
