| What can you tell me about it? Helpful for meeting people in the school and getting used to going downtown? Did you son enjoy it or was it just "school"? |
| I would also love to hear about this. We are considering it. |
| DS did it last summer and really liked it. Most of the incoming freshman class does it, so it’s a good way to meet classmates before school starts. We carpooled there and he took the metro home, which is how he gets to and from school now. So it also was helpful in getting used to that. |

Great program and optimal for meeting classmates and getting used to HS classes and transportation.
Time well spent. |
| Does anyone know approximately when it runs and for how long per day? |
|
Hopefully it makes admissions less hunger games.

Oops. Wrong thread |
| The reading class gets all the summer reading done. If you don't want to be nagging your son all summer to read, it is a no-brainer. |
This is good to know. DS is resisting the idea of 'school' in the summer. Do people generally do fill all three class slots or just do one or two? Seems kind of silly to go down there for just one class a day. |
| Tho k one of the classes is welcome to eye st which I’ve heard good things about. I don’t think my son knows about Sumer reading. This might make the school a harder sell. |
| If your boys don’t ride metro regularly, it’s a great way for them to figure out over the summer. It’s great to meet other boys, teachers and administrators. It’s great to get a feel for the classrooms and campus layout (which is a bit hodgepodge and can be maze -like depending on your classes). All that said, if your kid has a major conflict or adamantly doesn’t want to go, everyone lives fine without it. |
3 makes for a long day. One or two classes opped with lunch at Union Station is plenty |
ty! |
| My son is doing it. I have heard great things about it. |
I highly recommend three classes. The third class ends at 1pm so query whether that is a long day. Most kids take three. One class is intro to eye street so it is really just two classes. And they offer a strength training class 2x week that starts around 2:15 so kids will get food after the third class and go to that. |
