Visitation waitlist

Does the Visitation waitlist move much? I don't really get the impression that is does, just trying to give DD a realistic view.

I don’t know, but we aren’t accepting the spot for our daughter.

Are you enrolling at another school instead?

I think it moves, but not a lot. If you are coming from a K-8 I would try to have the Principal lobby the admissions team on your DD's behalf. That might or might not help, but won't hurt. GL

Our good friend's daughter got off the waitlist last year. I think it was a few weeks after the initial letters went out.

BTW she was at an Arlington public middle school.

I think anything can happen this year. Visi is more expensive than the diocese schools, so if a family is worried about job security under Trump, they may decline in bigger numbers. Who knows. My DD is in 9th and a friend mentioned she was waitlisted (and isn’t from Arlington public like PP) so at least 2 got off last year!

My daughter got off the waitlist a couple of years ago. She had acceptances at other schools but was waitlisted at Visi and was certain it was the place for her. She made it very clear to the Visi admissions team that she would accept a spot if one was offered to her. We received a call on the Monday after deposits were due, though I believe this year that day might fall during spring break. My daughter has loved every minute of her time at the school so far.

Yes. Child received merit and arts scholarships at SJC and with one fed job and one fed adjacent it just makes more sense financially as the cost is then nearly equivalent to our current k-8. We are not feeling very secure in our jobs right now and can fund SJC with the scholarships from savings but could not similarly foot the bill for Visi if worst case scenario happened and we both lost our jobs.

Congrats to your daughter! We’re in a similar situation and waiting decisions.

+1. Your K-8 principal can definitely lobby for your. If you aren't coming from a K-8, call admissions and tell them it is your kid's first choice and you take the spot if offered. They want kids and families who want to be there.

Doesn’t Visi draw from the same groups/geography/families as Gonzaga?

Gonzaga didn’t go to their WL this year. But maybe they underestimated or correctly estimated their yield and which resulted in their not having to go to the WL.
