it's not?

For people who grew up MC, $400k in the DC area sure doesn’t feel that much different. Still just a cog in the machine.

Just because you spend the majority of your wages on luxury items including living in high priced areas, and your remaining disposable income is the same as actual middle class families does not make you middle class.

If you own in NWDC, Bethesda, CC, Mclean, N Arlington, you are not middle class just because you've spent four times as much on your house as actual middle class people.

Fair. I suppose most families of 4 don't live in a $2.5M new build.

"No. Not yet. It's too early. Wait til after the holidays/after the kids go back to school/after summer. Don't kill the poor, innocent children!!!! Save usss." Also the "It's impossible to raise kids on under 170k" poster. My mom raised my sister and I on 30k and we survived.

I also hate the posters who yell anxiety/depression every time a working mom admits missing her kids.

Gold digger OP whose husband didn't put her name on the house.

Guy with the awful wife and teen daughter.

There have been a few others who will post about how awful their marriage is over and over but never actually take any advice.

guilty as charged I'm afraid.

To live a “middle class” lifestyle in an expensive area takes more money. It’s cheaper to live somewhere else but the income won’t necessarily follow (at least precovid).

You need therapy.

therapy can't fix everything and sometimes makes things worse

The 'are you proud of yourself, have a cookie' lady. It contributes nothing and is her only refrain.

Notice way more complaints about women here … so annoying!
Anonymous
I suspect the fact that there are more women here would be a part of that.

We are probably on the same or similar political side but it is annoying af because that poster never actually accepts any responses. So they ask for specificity but don't do anything with it when provided other than derail conversation. It's frustrating and just stops conversation.

Agree that it is annoying to be asked for evidence when you make a claim. Super annoying, especially when you can't.

The point is that the "be specific" poster never accepts or even acknowledges evidence presented. So they just derail and derail.

As someone who is also to the left politically, I recognize that poster substantially weakens the argument of their side every time they lost.

I remember that poster in a CRT/Youngkin thread. They asked for specific examples of school curricula that another poster wanted to ban. Did they ever provide one?

I’d say the people whom correct grammar in a post that’s easily understood. Its an anonymous board. Only correct to clarify meaning. And now I wait.

I have to disagree. While there are a lot of people on this board who are therapy addicts and you can see it in their posts, there are some clearly troubled people who would really benefit from working with a therapist. If someone is suggesting you need therapy then you should listen. The goal of therapy is for you to heal and help yourself. You're right that it can't fix everything, like it can't fix your car; however, therapy can help you understand why you made the bad decision to buy that car and then help you figure out what you need to do next.

As my kids would say, you're an instigator. You should think about why you instigate and then consider that you would probably be a much happier person if you weren't. Just sayin'.

Name-calling posters:

dum dum
dummy
idiot

variety of other immature insults.

Political posts using the word "massive." Can't think of one where the claim actually deserves the word, but it seems popular with a small group.

(But to be fair that corner of DCUM is infested with obnoxious and mean spirited people in general)
