the Colleges that Change Lives boosters in the college and university discussion board are pretty annoying
(But to be fair that corner of DCUM is infested with obnoxious and mean spirited people in general) |
Yup. That must be very annoying. |
Or therapists looking for business to pick up. |
Also any poster who assumes therapy or medication is a quick fix for anything. Both can take a long time to make things better and people who are trying to get help deserve empathy and kindness in the meantime. “Go to therapy” or “you need medication” are dismissive responses to someone with emotional pain because they ignore the fact that therapy/medication don’t offer anyone instant results. |
This is so true. I'll add to that the sentiment that we adults need no consider consequences of our decisions because "kids are resilient" and any impacts of adult decisions can be addressed through therapy. If only it could be that easy! |
The point is that the "be specific" poster never accepts or even acknowledges evidence presented. So they just derail and derail. As someone who is also to the left politically, I recognize that poster substantially weakens the argument of their side every time they lost. |
The "meh" "eh" poster. She reminds me of the fact thta women often don't speak clearly and with authority so often start sentences with "well . . . " "So...." "um... ." "meh . . ." "eh . . ." "This may be stupid but . . ". You get the idea. You don't need a hesitation mark at the beginning of your sentence! |
DUCM women hate just about everyone - equal opportunity haters maybe. DH, MIL, FIL, DIL, SIL, neighbors, neighbors' dogs/cats/kids, teachers, old people (i.e., boomers), young people...etc. Oh, and, other women. |
Everyone except for Dave Grohl, apparently. He's the unicorn. |
Personally I hate the misogynists. |
The ALL CAPS exclamation points!!!! poster on the thread about that huge housing development in North Potomac. |
Exactly. I realize how offensive this statement is, as $400k is solidly 1%. BUT... sure feels MC around here in terms of what your life looks like. |
Fiction. |
Just because you spend the majority of your wages on luxury items including living in high priced areas, and your remaining disposable income is the same as actual middle class families does not make you middle class. If you own in NWDC, Bethesda, CC, Mclean, N Arlington, you are not middle class just because you've spent four times as much on your house as actual middle class people. |
So, like, what was in the Wendy's order to feed three people that cost $54 total? Or the store which had bare shelves but could not be actually identified, because reasons? They must have been deleted. ![]() |
