I mean do people who really believe Trump is a genius for this tariff nightmare have a brain? It's like flat earth believers who think the sun and moon don't exist and planets are flat like earth. There's just no brain cells there.
Truly. Vietnam negotiating with the US on increasing our imports to them is pretty ridiculous. They simply aren't gonna buy expensive shit cause they don't have purchasing power. There's nothing to negotiate! And in terms of stocks jumping 3000 points I mean it's not a net gain. It's a lot of pain for nothing! Finally, there's nobody who wants to take a manufacturing job in the US cause it doesn't pay. It's easy to suggest other people will work if they don't have a job but honestly, you would not. |
Vietnam is a poor country. They are not going to up their imports of soybean from the US. They have a tiny population, even if it is growing. They will never consume or use that much more ag products from the US. |
Spot on. Trump's tantrums were purely him being a bully. If he really wanted to renegotiate trade deals, he could've done that the grown up way, not this hodge podge, blow up the stock market way. Also, even if manufacturing does come back to the US, most of the jobs will be done by machines, not people. |
I have a headache. |
Beating up on Vietnam is insanely stupid. Drive them right into China’s arms! Seriously wtf. |
As we predicted, whether he paused or reversed, the damage is done. Countries will continue to form stronger allies. Trust and respect is earned and this administration destroyed it in less than 3 months! We let this happen and both parties should be ashamed. This is the legacy we leave to the next generation. |
There is still a 10% tariff on everyone plus 25% on Canada and Mexico. |
Acting chairman Uyeda of the SEC, interviewed on whether commission would enforce insider trading rules against the administration: https://www.yahoo.com/news/cnbc-host-makes-stunning-claim-200530011.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAALs-VKBe2ylYs9sJA-mINcbTLStwXXH5sHHF1UVGwByXlJ4qrPuySmQro6rR2ARklGizUUUoVEetY3XXbXGc3z8th7I67FCQddasn0TYxgjo-HWqlmFDZx2Phgls9Quil0-LB_3Fzz48dSBhCeB2rFIlUchZohhEl0lq4c-Aj6n_
I hope people keeping pushing the SEC on this! |
Trump has single-handedly forfeited the U.S. reputation as a stable, prosperous, safe haven for international investors. U.S. Treasury Securities are not a safe place to invest reserves as long as Trump is in office. Supply chains with U.S. companies are inherently risky as long as Trump is in office. We are still likely to have a recession because this blew up long-term investment strategies and reinforced the fact that Trump is a clueless impulsive lunatic. No one trusts him and no one should. |
The population in Vietnam is quite high. |
"My style of deal-making is quite simple and straightforward. I aim very high, and then I just keep pushing and pushing and pushing to get what I’m after. Sometimes I settle for less than I sought, but in most cases I still end up with what I want. Leverage is having something the other guy wants. Or better yet, needs. Or best of all, cannot do without."

That’s not what he did. He imagined a problem based on ignorance, announced an idiotic policy that blew up global markets, then backed down to a still idiotic policy that he does not even understand. He’s an idiot who is extremely dangerous because he doesn’t know he is an idiot and because Republicans are too chickenshit to stop him from destroying the country with his ignorant impulses. |
+1 I think this stock win is temporary. Other countries are going to try to quietly find a way to get off this ride. |
Apparently Trump took no calls from other countries about the tariffs. He has no plan. Why can’t we have Biden back? |
