In the market for a new one - solgaard looks interesting, anyone have it? Would you recommend it? |
Have you looked at TJ Maxx? They have a wide selection with new inventory each week. I have purchased a few there over the years snd they hold up well. My goal is to avoid black or anything that could easily be confused with others.
If you travel internationally, focus on size restrictions. |
Travelpro. We have the super light ones in various colors. |
We all have Samsonite ones from TJ Maxx. They easily last us 10-15 years. Just bought DH a new one for $99. His previous one was 17 years old and the only issue was the retractable handle kept jamming. |
I have a Calpak that I spent a bunch on after researching this. It's fine. But if I had to do it over again I'd just figure out the dimensions I need and take a measuring tape to TJ Maxx. I hate TJMaxx, but this is what it is good for. |

TJ Maxx is definitely not the same quality as the samsonite ones you buy online. For most people it's going to be fine. But if youre a road warrier, traveling 3-4 times a month, just get the real ones from the samsonite or travelpro webpage, and don't get the silly hardsided ones. |
I would not look into anything expensive. It is a waste. They just get thrown around. Just narrow down what kind you are looking for (hard or soft case), size and then like everyone else, go to tj maxx |
Most “road warriors” would not crowd source this decision. |
Briggs and Riley if you want lifetime quality and really thoughtful features (for example, i love that the handle retraction section is on the outside of the bag and their suiting section inside the bag). The quality difference is noticeable and damage can be repaired or covered under warranty.
Whatever Costco sells if you don't care about quality or features that much. The ones at TJ Maxx are all over the spectrum and remember a lot of brands make lesser quality goods to go to those stores. You basically are never getting that special of a value buying there. |
I purchased a suitcase that has the brand logo IT all over it. It is the most lightweight suitcase I have ever owned in my life! |
Who throws around their carry on? |
DP here. I agree but all the more reason a Samsonite from TJ Maxx is sufficient. Ours last crazy long time - I can’t imagine needing anything “nicer.” |
We've had good luck with Monos and when there has been an issue, we file a claim under warranty and they send us a brand new suitcase (without asking for the old one back) |
Travelpro maxlite. I got soft because I hate hard side luggage but to each his own. They sell both. |
