Yesterday I was flying home with my husband and two kids out of Utah. We had a direct flight that was oversold so they offered people $1500 each in travel certificates to take a later flight with a connection and arrive six hours home later. That would have been 6 k for all. I didn’t say yes because I imagined getting stuck in the connecting city and the bags would have stayed on original flight so I didn’t have contacts or synthroid or tampons and my kids didn’t have their coats. But now I really regret it. What would you have done? |
Lesson learned- keep the tampons and Synthroid in your carry on.
AND you can always send 2 home and have 2 stay behind. |
NEVER check your jackets! |
Life goes on. Those vouchers are for single flexible travelers. |
I think they are annoying to use anyway. I tried to use an Alaska voucher and remember it was a bit of a pain- wouldn’t cover taxes or booking multiple flights. I can’t remember what but it wasn’t as great as it seemed. |
This. They are not a realistic choice for a family. |
Oh hell yeah, would have done it. |
It’s water under the bridge now. Why worry about it? |
They would have pulled your bags and sent them on your new itinerary.
For $6K I would skip a couple days of Synthroid. |
I would not think twice regarding, "would have done".
That's not how I live. It's in the past. Try that mindset, it's very freeing. |
Fewer trips on an airplane under the current administration seems a wise choice. |
We've done it and haven't had issues with the vouchers, but DH and I have pretty flexible jobs and only 1 DS. We never put anything important in checked luggage or anything that we couldn't go more than a few days without or be able to have access to at our destination. |
This is exactly what I was thinking! |
We did this once. $6K for family of 4. We had multiple connections to make and all of that also worked out . Our bags arrived in another country and was kept with the airport authorities. We were able to track it because we had airtags in all of them. |
I travel carry on only so naturally I would have taken it. |
