Elon is now firing FAA employees involved in maintaining radars.
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/doge-faa-firings_n_67b33e05e4b0c6b4a5049c8b The ATC system is under severe stress. There have been an unusual number of crashes in the last couple weeks. I'm not sure I'm comfortable getting on a plane any longer. |
Nope, not getting on a plane any time soon, especially out of DC. |

I am concerned. We have a few air travel trips coming up, and I’m more nervous than usual.
I do think that because of the DC crash and the Musk illegal firing spree we are hearing about incidents that in the past would have not have gotten news coverage. I think this is a good thing—people need to start freaking out—but I don’t know that it means air travel at this moment is meaningfully less safe than it was a month ago. But I do believe air travel will become meaningfully less safe in the coming months. They are punching holes in a system that was already vulnerable. |
Musk is rapidly making everything less safe for Americans. I am avoiding airplane travel. |
Just what we need, SpaceX rapid unscheduled disassembly brought to a plane near you! |
I have to fly this week. I wish I didn't have to.
This is genuinely frightening. |
I have no issues flying. Boarding a flight in 2 hours. Not the least bit concerned |
No. |
I have never stressed over flying, but I did hesitate before buying tickets this time. I’m nervous, but not enough to forgo seeing my parents. |
No, already switched one of our trips to drive instead. |
How logical. How data based. |
I don't have a choice as I have to fly for work. So I have to go with the odds of a crash still being very low, and lower than driving. |
Not pp but not sure how you can evaluate the safety of whatever the hell untested code these amateurs are rolling out. We have no idea what Musk is doing because it’s not FOIAble and he’s not transparent and this whole thing is not confidence inspiring. I like my government slow and reliable. |
