| FCPS is adopting new math basal resources for grades 6-8 and secondary. It looks like our kids are finally getting math textbooks!!!! They will be online but they are reputable - Pearson and McGraw Hill are some of the publishers! Wow. So happy! No more stupid packets! |
|
Yay yay yay!
|
| Wish they would have gone back to printed text books, but an actual curriculum is better than the random packets even if online. |
Elementary is 26-27. Is that how long we have to wait for the textbooks? |
This would be amazing. Do you have a link for this update? |
| Ugh, my kids will be out of elementary school by the time they get textbooks. |

Our school has algebra textbooks available for students to use. They are new this year through a pilot program. Families can request one. I think we’ve handed out 10.

We got an email explaining it. They included a link to the resources. I’ll see if I can post in. |

Here’s the link to review the materials:

| You can request a printed textbook from the school. |
They aren’t using it for their primary curriculum, at least at our school. It’s simply a resource book that doesn’t actually get used. With the basal readers, teachers will be required to used them as their main curriculum. They will be expected to use them daily is my guess. |
Whoever is responsible for this, THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! This might be the lowest hanging fruit there is to improve math education in FCPS. Great Job FCPS! |
they say they don’t follow one |

Kiddom math has not been reviewed by EdReports. Maybe some folks here can go look them over and report back here.
Amplify Desmos Math has excellent reviews from Ed Reports. Caveat: I was only looking at Elementary math. |
| It’s sad that we have to celebrate that textbooks are coming back for some grades next year. How far have our schools fallen… |
