Private Trainer Recommendation

Does anyone know of a good private soccer coach in DC? We are looking for someone technical and focused on ball mastery.

Best of luck with that

You could spend hundreds on CoachUp. Or look for those skills clinics by clubs in your area or ask the coaches at your club.

Look through Instagram and you'll find what you're looking for. You'll get no actual recommendations on here. Everyone's too competitive and most of the stellar ones aren't taking new clients/have long wait lists.

You're better off doing clinics at HP Elite or the likes. An hour once or twice a week is not gonna cut it.

He is with McLean soccer. Former Peruvian pro. He's been training for years.

Was there any mention of training just once or twice a week?

Is HP Elite anywhere near DC?

My child could literally get in 2k touches in the time it will take to get to HP Elite from DC. I have no doubt they do good work. Time is the most valuable asset we have and we are willing to pay for a trainer to come to us in DC.

FYI, I am not usually snarky but this response is completely unproductive as you made a lot of assumptions without any information.

It was actually meant in sincerity. But take it as you will.

Commuting in traffic around here to get in extra soccer definitely has parents questioning their own sanity.

I am jealous of parents who have a lot of soccer resources in their own neighborhoods for sure. We only have smaller clubs where I live, no local trainers, soccer gyms or high level soccer programs. We usually spend 30 minutes each way driving to get in extra touches with clinics or trainers.

I can have my kid do some extra ball work in the back yard or inside the house, but its not the same at all as getting feedback and motivation from a coach and going up against other kids. (Also, my kid is at an age where she does not listen to anything I say relating to soccer...yay!)

Anyway, every family's situation is different. The few kids I've noticed that had private training became a lot better, but in both those cases the training was super convenient to them. One kid was home schooled and her mom would bring her to training at 3:30 daily to get a session in before team practice. The other kid has a trainer in her neighborhood and access to a good field within 5 minutes of her house.

A close program or trainer is worth looking for, good luck!
