Things I wish I never had to hear again….
*Lower Ivies, Public Ivies, Ivy+ * “The street” * Passion project * “fit” is on the edge of becoming annoying even though I believe it I think it’s a sign on I need to take a step away. Am I alone in this? |

The most ridiculous is "Fit".
Schools want to cultivate an image of exclusivity and uniqueness - they create the perception that their institution offers something that can’t be found elsewhere. College counselors (especially private ones) often push the fit narrative because it makes the admissions process seem more personal and strategic. It can also justify their guidance and services. |

To add:
Students tend to adapt well wherever they go. Fit is often hindsight - alumni look back and feel like their school was the perfect fit. |

I sort of agree, had a kid that could be happy at a range that most would question whether only applying for prestige. I sort think small/large, city/rural, rah rah Greek sports/academic and quirky can be legit fit issues though. But within that many schools would qualify. |

These are all phrases you see in social medias posts about college. I rarely hear them in talking with friends.
So yes, step away from the internet. As the kids say, touch grass. |
