Just prescribed Zepbound: tell me everything

Anonymous
I was just prescribed Zepbound for weight management. I will start with 2.5 dosage and adjust monthly from there.

I've read a bit about GI issues to anticipate. Any tips on what to expect for side effects for those who have taken it? And more importantly have you been pleased with results?

Zepbound (aka tirzepatide) is known to have fewer side effects than Ozempic (aka semaglutide). When I started on 2.5 of tirzepatide, I had very mild nausea for the first few days. That has been my only side effect. My provider recommended I eat an apple a day for fiber and I have tried to do that; I haven't had any constipation - actually, things are running better in that department; I think because I am eating so much healthier and much less junk food than I was before.

My nausea is almost nonexistent now. I have stayed on 2.5 because it's working for me. I have heard nausea increases as you titrate up to higher doses, but can't speak to that.

This drug has been a miracle for me! I am down 11 pounds in 4.5 weeks with pretty much no effort. I am still enjoying food; I just want much less of it. I never would have believed this could be true for me, but it is. I am sleeping better (again, I think it's because I've been eating better and stopped binge eating), my skin looks wonderful, I have energy, and I am just so excited and optimistic about my future. I feel like the medication has given me a new lease on life.

PP adding checking out the zepbound board on reddit. Lots of good and encouraging info there.

Miracle! Go straight to zepbound group on Reddit or the TirzepatideCompound group!! They have all the info. Be sure you hydrate like crazy. Take extra electrolytes!!! Supplement with fiber gummies and probiotics. Eat 100 grams of protein daily in small meals every 2-3 hrs. Sleep well and workout daily… and move up slowly!! Don’t move up unless you have had a weight loss stall!! If you’re still losing don’t dose up

Don’t eat too much and definitely don’t eat junk or anything with a lot of fat. You’ll end up in the bathroom if you do that.

Enjoy being content with a yogurt and banana and let the pounds melt away.

Agree with everything said so far. It’s been amazing. Hydrate and watch your meal sizes. Side effects hit everyone differently in terms of if at all, which ones, and at what dose. More likely than not you’ll have some rough GI moments. It will likely get better given time and adjusting to the meds, and you starting to learn what leads to unpleasant side effects.

Thank you so much from the OP. I really appreciate your input and candidness.

OP back again! I’m lucky that my not very good insurance will cover a large portion. My co-pay will be just under $200. Does anyone know of a program that may provide discounts? I’ve heard of coupons before but also read that those have been phased out. I would purchase through my local CVS drugstore.

I get it for $25 with the savings card.

I was just prescribed Zepbound also. Haven't started yet. Will do so this week. Waiting for my appointment with a registered dietitian to ensure I'm eating as well as I can. It took about a month to have the medication in hand. Once I got through the insurance checks, I couldn't find a local pharmacy that had it in stock. I ended up filling it through Lilly and selected Amazon pharmacy as the dispensing pharmacy. My co-pay was going to be around $250 but using a Lilly coupon, it came down to $80 per month. Good luck, OP. I'm excited and ready to commit to a new lifestyle to get the most benefit from the med.

I craved weird foods like raw radishes. And had an almost migraine like headache the first two doses, but not after those first two.

The max discount per month on the Lilly discount with insurance is $150.

Yes, you are correct. Just looked back at my order for the specifics. I'm the poster quoted above. Insurance co-pay (Express Scripts) was $235, got the $150 discount and paid $85.

do you have to inject this in yourself or are these tablets/capsules?

i don't think i can inject myself if that was the only way to administer it.
