IS IT TRUE Summer school is an easy A?
if they failed the course all they need to do is show up and passing the class, if they do any work they pass with D and if they work they get C and if they all the work they get A? |
Regular school is easy too. |
Yup. All you have to do is show up. A. |
| It's true. It's how districts are able to brag about their 96% graduation rates. |
Summer school doesn't even require 180 days of accidental exposure to information. |
| The online campus classes are also very easy. Everyone gets an A, including the AP classes. |
PAR MY kids old TikTok account so many kids are failing and skipping classes. Everyone is getting F's or D's some kids have so many absences . |
Glad the school board changed the policy that Online Campus classes will be flagged on the transcript for colleges! |
| Summer School is easier. Just 1 subject to focus on for teacher and students... spoon fed the info on a condensed timeline. |

Summer school was not easy for us, and it was just PE. The instructor was super strict about all the requirements, including logging in on time (or they couldn't log in at all and an absence was recorded).
And what's easy about you do all the work you get an A, you do most of it, a B, and so on? That's how grades usually work, unless the subject is really difficult to master. |
| Plenty of Geometry H students think that summer course is hard and drop it. The ones who finish say that they are doing 6-8 hours of work a day. Mind you, many if the kids taking the class are rising 8th graders who need an A for TJ applications. It could be that regular Geometry for students making up a grade is an easy C. |
The kids that fail school during the school year are not the ones that are voluntarily signing up for summer school. |
The "hard one" is geometry honors. Credit recovery geometry for kids who failed the first time through is painfully easy. When you realize only kids who failed take it but then half the kids with it on their transcripts get As in summer school, something is weird. I wish summer school was foundational math skills instead of credit recovery. My kids who fail algebra/geometry/algebra 2 are failing because they don't understand what a variable is and how to evaluate expressions. They can't solve a 2 step equation let alone a quadratic. Learning calculator tricks for solving a system doesn't help with future courses. |
| My son took a summer school math class last year and got an A but he spent 3-4 hours a day on it every single day. |
I teach HS math as well. They won’t do well in any other classes and their full transcript will show that; and often, the other classes don’t look so hot either. |
