SAT-1500
WGPA-4.45 9 APs all 4/5 Plenty extra curriculars President's award for volunteering, 3rd rank in hackathons Upset and confused |
In state? Surprising |
Dc got similar stats, oos, flat out rejected. Asian. So much for meritocracy. Dc is feeling that they will get shut out from colleges, and end up at UPitt, while similarly stat friends have secured admission at T20. |
If you are OOS that’s common |
Same here with even slightly higher SAT. Took highest rigor in all core subjects and FL and still deferred. |
^^ Im the PP above and we're in-state |
They definitely deferred a large amount of straight A kids, high rigor, high scores, great activities, etc.
Really hoping a large portion are accepted in regular round. |
When this happens I always wonder if it was something we couldn’t see….teacher recommendations, essays, or something else you can’t put a number on. |
We know someone with essentially the same stats/ECs/awards and flint in three languages.
Deferred and later accepted with merit, no less. She went elsewhere but the merit made her think twice. My post by is, I think mistakes get made. Hang tight but consider your kid’s other options. |
*fluent* not flint |
Isn't it safe to say that anyone deferred has great stats at these really competitive schools?
There just aren't enough spots. Cast a wide net. |
UVA doesn't do merit, so maybe you are thinking of a different school. |
I didn't think UVA gave much merit. Do you know how much this was? |
Why add “Asian”? |
DC was accepted to better ranked schools for their major so recs or essays are probably not the issue (I guess). |
