Does anyone know of a mountain/lake lodge in the continental U.S., relatively close to an airport (1-hour, maybe 2-hour drive) that would work for a multi-generational family vacation? Maybe in the Pacific Northwest? Anywhere, really, with views and activities, but OK for older folks who can’t do much hiking? (We’d be willing to break into smaller groups for excursions as long as there could be lots of opportunities to hang out on the property?) |
Maybe the Coeur d’alene resort. It’s about an hour from the Spokane airport |
On the east coast, Mohonk Mountain House is 1.5 hours from Albany if you want old school (but it is pretty pricey). It is less than an hour from Newburgh Airport but almost no flights go there. |
The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs has a mountain lodge in addition to the fancy resort. It looks nice. |
We did a multi generation trip to the Sagamore in upstate NY. Fly into Albany. Took a boat/ferry on the lake, enjoyed the pool. There were lots of activities for the kids to do and the grandparents could sit in a comfy chair and watch, like croquet, taking out a banana boat, etc. We liked it! |
Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee is perfect for this |
It’s not mountain or lake or lodge, but Montage-Palmetto Bluff could be a good property for this, if Savannah is a convenient airport to get to. |
What time of year is this for? Deer Valley fits that criteria, tons of excellent lodging options and excellent views and service. |
The sagamore, lake George.
Or try Lake Tahoe? |
+1 for the Broadmoor. Its wonderful! |
You can also do HHI airport. |
Park City, UT. Only 30-40 mins from airport. |
Its embarrassing that they put a Ritz flag on that property. Very mediocre property. |
When are you going? Deer Valley or a park City will be muddy in the spring once ski season ends. |
Garden of the Gods also has some easy walking trails that feel more like a hike. You can fly into Denver or Colorado Springs |
