Hi
My daughter is 21 months old. Can someone tell me the best day care and/or montessori schools in Maryland. She may be young for Montesori now, but I wanted to start looking. I am relatively new to this place. I did read about Franklin Montessori School, but that is out of the way for me. I live in Germantown and was looking for anything in the 270 corridor (Germantown to Rockvile) Thanks for yoyur help. |
| Barrie School |
| Franklin's right off of 370. I would think it's pretty easy to get to if you are coming from Germantown. |
| Butler Montessori is in Germantown/Darnestown off of 118. |
Isn't that in Silver Spring? That's not on the 270 corridor. |
| Thanks, I was looking up the wrong Franklin Montesssori School, because the one i referenced to in my email was the one in DC |

Franklin has a 2s program but I think they only accept new kids until mid January. You may want to check on this. It sounds like your daughter would just make it. Unless you really need childcare, if your child is not 2 by January though then it isn't a bad idea to wait until late summer so she can avoid transitioning to preschool and then a few months later transition to another room.
They have full day (7:30-6:00 pm), half day, full week and partial week options. We did full day (I needed childcare between 9-4pm) and about half the class (12 kids) stayed past 3pm and the other half left either at noon or 3pm. |

I need to keep a couple of options, just in case Franklin does not have openings.
Butler only accepts children from 3. I am also open to good daycares in Rockville, Gaitehrsburg, Potomac |
| We loved white flint children's house, but it might be too far for you. It is by White Flint mall. It is montessori and accepts 2 year olds. |

Goddard School in Gaithersburg always gets good reviews, but I have no personal experience.

Oh, and if you are looking later for a 3s class, I absolutely love the Seneca Academy, which is very close to Butler on Germantown Rd.
Christ Episcopal School right in downtown Rockville has a 2s program, but I don't know much about it. Neither is Montessori, however. And if you don't need full time care/school, Epworth in Gaithersburg is also really great. |
| Primary Montessori Day School - it's in North Potomac/Rockville |
| The Jefferson Montessori School in Gaithersburg. It is run by the same people who own Franklin Montessori School. |
| Manor Montessori |
| Whatever you do, stay away from Julia Brown Montessori School! They are insolent and arrogant. They won't let parents talk directly with teachers - you must go through the administrator. They actually discourage parent involvement and communication. Teachers wait by the window and have your child ready to go the minute you arrive to pick them up. |
