Love Is Blind: Germany

I just started this season and am a bit taken aback... I had thought of Germany as quite progressive and forward thinking but many of the men seemed misogynistic and entitled. Has anyone else been watching and what were your thoughts?

I'm watching! Haven't seen all the episodes yet. I've only noticed it's Tolga who wants a SAHM as a wife. He seems pretty chauvinistic and I think it's interesting he picked the hotter woman rather than the uglier one, of the two he was talking with, even without being able to see them. I don't trust him at all.

Something about Ilias is off - I don't think he's mature enough to be a husband. Did he pick Alina? That flighty girl who is into horoscopes and crystals? They both lack substance.

Medina seems like he'll screw up because of his lack of confidence. Honestly, that low self-esteem would be such a turnoff for me. I think the woman (Sally?) he picked only liked him because they're both Christian - they don't seem to have anything else in common. I felt SO bad for that woman after they met and she felt let down and cried. She flat out told him "I'm uncomfortable with your silence" and he still just kept staring and laughing.

It would make for pretty boring television if they picked progressive and forward thinking men. No one wants to watch normal people "date and fall in love". They want drama and ridiculous scenarios.

Because right wing, MAGA-like attitudes are resurfacing in Germany - inadequate men who want a resurgence in antiquated ideas.

So theyre basically forcing women be traumatized by dysfunctional, angry man babies for entertainment purposes? Now that's F-ed up.

I don't think any of these women sign up for shows like this expecting to meet a wholesome Prince Charming. It's a dating show where they are going to want ratings. You have to know what you're signing up for by this point (I give a pass to people when dating shows and reality TV first came out) but by now everyone knows that they not only look for certain people that will cause "good tv", drama, and all that but will also create situations and scenarios to create conflict and "good tv". So no one is forcing these women to be traumatized. They are choosing to sign up for a reality dating show.

Uh, yes they do... that's kind of the point? Especially with this show where they are promised "deeper" men who "arent shallow" and want a real connection.
Besides, that ignores the point that these men arent just duds or not amazing, but many of them are actively traumatizing, horrible chauvinists and men with severe emotional issues.

They are very direct with each other, that's one thing I noticed.

The men started out seeming pretty nice, then they all turned into flakes who were too emotionally distant, volatile, or cheaters. It really was a mess.

I’ve watched and finished this already lol. I didn’t really enjoy it as much as some of the others, but I majorly agree that tolga is a POS.

I'm up to Episode 8 and just hate all these men the more I watch. Tolga looked completely shocked when Hannah told him she didn't want to be second choice. Like it hadn't even occurred to him that she has her own free will and might not want him, and he might not be in the power position. But then she folded and was into him. He was also a d*ck to tell the group "we" decided to break up. when really he wasn't into the first woman he picked.

Ilias is only into Alina now that Hanni told him she's not interested in him at all. Daniel seems absolutely lovely.

It turns out I'm very distinctly attracted to confidence because I can't stand Medina each time he pops onto the screen. I feel really bad for Jen - her guy acts like she's a flawed person but she's lovely.

I will say it's nice that these women are mostly natural - no lip fillers, fake tans, teeth whitening, etc. Hanni seems to be the only one fake tanning and only a couple are wearing fake eyelashes. All the moms of the brides look SO young and pretty. I don't know if that's a result of having their children at age 14, or life in Germany is just that low-stress.

As always on LIB, it seems the women are lovely and have their ish together and the men are varying degrees of floundering losers and liars. This show has exposed the dating market more than anything else

Why did they all gang up against the flirty/cheating girl on the reunion but not say a thing to the guy who did the same thing? That was crazy!

The people were brutally honest with each other. I dont think I could ever live in Germany
