I've been set on the name for 6 months and had it in my head that the name would be pronounced like "Ly-za" but curious what people think about both that pronunciation and the other way of "Lee-za?"
Obviously I know it will be my choice, just curious to hear people's thoughts. |
Leeza would be spelled that way. Liza is pronounced Lie-zah. |
OP here. My first is named Lena. 50% of the time people get her name pronunciation right as "Lee-na" and others say "Len-a." With both names, it it a matter of pronouncing a short or long vowel for the "e" and "i." Again, just curious as to how people would pronounce Liza and if there was a "preferred" way, if there is such a thing π |
LIE-zah |
This. And please use Elizabeth. |
Yes this. Though as an Elizabeth this has always bothered me since it's not how you say the "liza" part of my own name. I've never used it as a nickname though, so. |
Why? Many people want Liza or Aliza. |
OP here.
Very much set on Liza versus Elizabeth (please no one come for me) π I appreciate the comments! |
Itβs short for Eliza and pronounced that way. |
+1 |
Okay, naming your kids Lena and Liza is an awful idea. I say this as someone named Kathy with a brother Kevin, and cousins to Sima and Sara (who are sisters). The cutesy thing is awful. The alliteration is awful. Use your second choice. |
OP here. Not looking for opinions on the name, thanks! Me and my sister are both "K" names and we're all good π€·πΌββοΈ |
LIE-za.
I like it (though the sibling thing would bug me). |
Lena is a name with different pronunciations in English based on the name or language it's based on. Both Lee-na and Len-a are correct. Liza is a name with one pronunciation in English. Lie-za. It's not the "preferred" way it's the only way. |
OP doesn't have a kid named Lena so I'm not sure what your rant is about. |
