Trump did not place hand on bible during swearing in ceremony

President Trump did not place his hand on his choice of two meaningful bibles when he was sworn in today. Melania (while wearing a large hat that obscured her face) was holding her husband's personal Bible, which was given to him by his mother, and the Lincoln Bible that President Abraham Lincoln used to take the oath of office in 1861.

What does DCUM think as to why?
Is he afraid that his presidency will go against the teachings of the Bible and does not want to face divine retribution?
Or just indifferent to his professed faith?
Or a slight towards Melania by undermining her relevance to the ceremony?

I mean, I loathe DJT, but another possibility is he simply forgot and didn’t put his hand on it. He’ll do plenty of nefarious things; I don’t need to hunt for them.

They started giving him the oath of office before anyone was next to him. He was already taking the oath before Melania even got over to him with the Bible. The kids all rushed over after that.

This was a mess up by whoever was in charge of getting people in their places.

He probably forgot. It has nothing to do with whether or not he's a Christian. There are plenty of Christians and people of other faiths who are downright evil.

Putting your hand on the bible is just a formality. It doesn't stop people from abusing power, religion, or being a charlatan.

I can believe a bunch of things about why Trump didn't touch the Bible, but it's not just a formality. But hey nine of his supporters care, so.... so what?

Obviously it’s the symbolism that matters given how he has exploited religion for political gains.

Plenty of people care - many news outlets f on Fox, to People, to NYT to various broadcast news channels to The Hill ran stories on this omission.
