Trying to plan a 4-5 day trip for group of 7-10 friends in October. Previously we have been to Santa Fe and Mexico City. We are internationals living in DC and are keen to see more of the US or places close by.
Would love ideas and suggestions! Ideally, would be a direct flight from DC although open to train or driving. Our biggest constraint is probably budget and the most tricky constraint is finding suitable accommodation. Ideally no more than $150-200 per night per person. On previous trips, we have managed to find places on Airbnb but the group has grown and I’m finding most private accommodation for big groups involves sharing beds which we won’t do. |
Do a search on this forum there are at least 35 threads on this already. |
What do you like to do? Weather, activities, etc? |
Yes, are you outdoorsy? Shopping? Museums? Beaches? |
Big groups so ideally a mix of interests. Some hiking is good but not everyone up to more arduous physical activities. Mainly art, food, museums, other cultural stuff. Not looking for a long spa weekend. Some markets or interesting arts or craft shops. Otherwise not shopping. Bit of beach is fine but not lying out all day. |
Charleston SC once it's spring. |
New Orleans (not at Mardi Gras) |
You're not giving us a lot to go on OP. All we can do is tell you stuff like, have you been to Nashville? How about Seattle? We really need at least ONE thing that can help guide you here. Unless you're just asking in the broadest possible way for examples of fun things to do in the US or other countries of North America. That said obviously Las Vegas is the answer here. |
Miami, everything plus bit of beach. |
Seattle? San Francisco area? North Bay Area - Marin, Sonoma, Napa? Monterey/Carmel? Monterey peninsula would be nice. Check Asilomar. Hike, kayak, dining, art, wineries. |
Too big of a group, too long of a trip. |
Asheville, NC
NYC Savannah GA |
I would consider a cruise with that size of group. Then no one has to be the planner and people can go do some of their own things and then back together. |
My favorite girls trips are when the focus is on just being together and having space to hang out and grab a few good meals along the way. Think about where everyone can get to via a nonstop flight. My next one is to Nashville. Other fun ones have been Philly, Charleston, Miami , Ft Lauderdale , Raleigh. All can be as active, low key and budget friendly as you want/need it to be. |
Montreal and get two 3 bedroom “apartments” through Sonder. It’s nice having the space, you can grab some stuff for coffee or for pregaming, comes with a washer dryer too. Your money will go further with the exchange rate. Shopping is fun and it’s a foodie city. |
