Thinking about taking my boys, 13 and 16, to Asia for two weeks this summer. We like our trips to have a mix of cities and country/beach/outdoor stuff. Unfortunately Thailand is off the table (ex-H called dibs). I dont think they’re ready for India. Japan’s been increasingly hostile to tourists. Looking for ideas. Thanks! |
Seoul, Busan and Jeju Island would be a great trip. History and tourist sites, pop culture, great food, lovely views, shopping. |
You can go places in Japan other than the traditional tourist circuit. |
New Zealand would be great. Or Hawaii. |
It will be winter in NZ - more skiing than beach weather. |
How has Japan been hostile to tourists?
I would go there. |
We did it last summer. Loads of outdoors stuff. It is winter but the North Island is moderate temps. We added in time In Australia so that was our beach time. Great trip. |
Can you clarify the Japan hostile comment? |
We were in Japan last summer with kids and it was very tourist friendly. We can't wait to go back. |
Taiwan (hugely underrated, let the crowds go to Japan). Beaches in Indonesia or Malaysia. |
Go to China on a paid tour and do the Beijing-Xian-Shanghai triangle. Then do Hong Kong. From there go to a beach then fly home.
Or do SIngapore - Kuala Lumpur- Bali in some order. That you can do on your own. |
You can do the whole thing in Indonesia. It is so stunning. There is a ton besides Bali. Incredible nature, hiking, beaches, and old temples. |
Think about Vietnam. It's the most beautiful place I've ever been, and lots of fascinating things to see and do. |
Taiwan |
Vietnam and Angor Wat |
