What now- shouldn't drink tea with tea bags?

Anonymous
Did you know this? MIL just told me; I drink 3 cups of tea a day using tea bags. I drink bottled water, sodas, juice- dead for sure in 15 years. Good thing I have kids already. Can one cut the tea bag and use the actual tea or has that been contaminated too. I hate to throw 8 boxes I have and buy new tea.

They did a study about how many microplastics are floating in your tea with certain tea bags. It was a lot of plastic. Just look up which teas don't use the wrong kind of materials to make their tea bags and buy those.

This is OLD news! Most tea bags are bleached white with chemicals. I've been using natural tea bags for about 10 years.

Yes. We dug out the tea ball and bought some fancy loose leaf tea.

My mother, who is in her late 70s, has decided not to change, at this point in her life.

This is brand new news. Millions of microplastics released in every tea bag

Just open the packets and put in a tea strainer. No biggie.

So use a tea strainer like 99% of the world does. NBD.

Newsflash: all the “paper” cups you drink coffee and tea out of are also lined with plastic. I wish more people drinking for here would ask for mugs so more places would carry them.

Missed the part where she said WHY or backed up her dramatic claim.

Did she find a dust spec in her tea bag? Microplastics galore? Mold?

Then the debris goes flying up your nose and on everything!

Same with the cracking open a plastic bottle cap. Splinters large plastic bits everywhere and back in the bottle, liquids, food out, your nose.

I’m pretty sure I require microplastics in my diet in order to survive.

This.

i buy loose leaf and use a strainer... it's much stronger and more delicious than bagged, too.

I just checked several lists of “safe” brands and “unsafe” brands. They contradict each other!

One site says Twinings is fine. Another says it’s not. Same with several other brands.
