Solo getaway for single female, warm not necessary but like an equipped and very comfortable hotel or resort with active things to do…..fitness, running, hiking. Not a spa person….easy transportation via direct flight from DC/BWI and no need for rental car. Recs please, not budget conscious. Thx |
Japan is the safest country for a female solo traveler. Long flight, though. |
Red rock in Utah or Austin lake spa. |
Adding, you don’t have to do spa stuff to enjoy these. |
Other than the hiking requirement, I enjoyed Charleston and Savannah as two separate solo trips and they were great. These were for long weekends so I wanted a direct flight. My other requirement was early spring. |
For a long weekend in summer, Burlington, Vermont. You can rent a bike, hike, swim, shop, kayak, and eat at good restaurants.
Ditto Portland, Maine. San Francisco. Good public transport. So much to do. You can ferry over to Marin for biking, hiking, running. |

Dude, look it up |
Not much. Slept in. Sat by the pool. Window shopped. Walked a lot! Ate good food. In Savannah there is an ice cream shop called Leopold’s that is quite good. Went there several times. In the historic district, there are beautiful old parks every few blocks and it was fun to just walk for a while and then take a break and soak in the sun. In Charleston, I did a horse drawn carriage tour that was nice. Also a lot of walking and enjoying the sunshine. I don’t need much to be happy. I live in Boston so I like to find an early spring. |
The place is magic. Pure relaxation and luxury with the option to do a ton of different spa, wellness, nature, creative, things if you want to. I've been to all of them and recommend them all. In order though: 1) Tucson 2) Berkshires 3) Austin |
Sounds wonderful! Thank you! |
NP here who did a solo trip to Savannah. I also went to Leopold's (twice). I stayed in a lovely hotel in the historic district that I would recommend, The Marshall House. The town is very walkable so did a lot of walking and wandering through old cemeteries, along the waterfront, etc. I did do one trolley tour, more for comedy than anything else- It was called Savannah for Morons and was highly entertaining. I visited a cat cafe on a whim and wanted to go to the SCAD museum but it was closed on the day I tried to go. It was a great trip. |
