What were your mounjaro side effects?

How long did it take for side effects to subside if you had them?

I'm on a compounded tirzepatide. I have had only mild side effects. A bit of nausea in the 1-2 days after the shot, a little bit of fatigue, but I chalk the latter up to eating much less than my body is used to/needs. I can definitely feel the meds wear off as the week ends, with hunger and cravings returning, as well as more energy since I eat more in response to the greater hunger level.

I am on a 2.5 dose and intend to drop to half of that in my second month on the med, since my weight is dropping so quickly.

Zepbound, which is basically the same, and I had none at 2.5. Since on 5 I’ve had stomach aches and gas, and a few times diarrhea. Also sulfur burps. Staying on 5 for now because I am losing plenty of weight and to try to get the side effects better under control.

I’m trying to pay more attention to size of meals, eating too fast, too much alcohol, etc. to connect what triggers the unpleasant stuff and adjust. Between that and longer time on 5 I am optimistic and it’s already getting somewhat better.

Mostly bloating and related stomach pain, which I recommend phazyme for. Improved after a couple months but going away it seems around 10 months. Not bad enough to discourage me from taking it though!

Elephant smelling farts and orange poops

My existing reflux is worse. No other side effects. I have been on and off it for 2 years and about to go back on.

I’m occasionally needing a nap, slight constipation.

I had no side effects or super minimal on 2.5 but on 5 I have side effects. Super fatigued and a feeling of “flu like” body aches and general misery. I am dropping back down to 2.5 starting next week to see how that goes. I also get congestion in my ears and throat which is really weird.

Really tired with a headache and nausea the day after injection. It was really effective but the side effects/cost weren't sustainable. I switched to a compounded version, and it was equally as effective without nearly the same side effects. It probably also helped that I had much more control over the injection amount, could slowly titrate up over the weeks, as well as split the dose over the week. Unfortunately, Mounjaro insists on using those jackass pens. The compounded product has just been better in every way than the original. It's really unfortunate that the FDA has taken it off the shortage list so we're now stuck with the inferior product experience.

I had very mild side effects. Thankful. I started on the low introductory dose in August and I did a ton of research before I started. I went to a Doctor Who ran my blood panels and we decided that compounded tirzepatide was the best option for me. Believe it or not, the Reddit groups are the best ones to find out what you should be doing to start – the users are much more knowledgeable than even the doctors. I was super careful about hydration, electrolytes, eating very small protein forward meals with a mix of grains and vegetables. My side effects included very mild fatigue, very mild heartburn, both easily managed with a little bit of extra rest and over-the-counter tums. I was already working out in weight training, so I just continued that. I incorporated lots of extra fiber with psyllium and fiber gummy‘s and only suffered from real constipation ONCE. I never had stomach upset or nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea,. I’ve also always been super careful about what I eat, and all the other things you’re supposed to be doing. I also only ever went up in .5 increments so very very slowly. Please do not believe that you have to double and triple your dose. I am at my goal weight and have gained a ton of muscle and feel amazing. I’m starting to lower my dose and will go off the meds completely.

There’s a whole universe out there. It’s a lot of really good info because it kind of helps you understand how to optimize your experience if you’re using the namebrand meds and how to customize it if you’re using compounding. It is not designed to be used instead of a doctor and is not to be a replacement for a real medical advice.
