Travel regrets

Every once in a while I find out something about a place I went to and have deep regret I didn't see a particular landmark, feature, didn't go to a specific restaurant. Do you have that too? For instance I have stopped in Carmel by the Sea twice (as part of road trips so quickly) and never made it to the coastline/beach there. I sometimes put a "4K walk in _______(insert quaint area)" in the background as I work, and today's was Carmel and I felt awful I missed out on it because it is breathtaking! Now I feel like I need to go again.

Huh? While the subway is a model of efficiency and ease as a way to get around a giant city - beautiful stations? Just spent a week there and thought they were very meh/utilitarian in terms of aesthetic appeal. I preferred the amazing gardens everywhere and biking on the chaotic streets.

Don't feel so bad. Carmel isn't any different from any other coast there in the area. If you made it to the coast in Monterey or Pismo or somewhere in between it's all the same.

I ran out of time to see Versailles when I was in Paris.
I missed most of Cusco, Peru because of altitude sickness. I should have planned better to acclimate to the altitude.

My cousin was working on a contract in Congo several years ago and invited us to visit him. We would have had full security while moving around. Somehow a trip never happened. I would have loved to see the gorillas.

+1. I lived in Beijing for five years. I occasionally took the subway took work. They’re totally fine but not beautiful.

+1. I lived in Beijing for five years. I occasionally took the subway took work. They’re totally fine but not beautiful.

YEah.. The oldest lines (1 and 2) have slightly interesting stations because they were built so long ago, before they built very uniform stations. But still not much to see. Maybe they were mixiing it up with Moscow? They have some impressive stations.

From Istanbul, never made the short trip to Cappadocia and I’m still kicking myself. I would have loved to do the hot air balloon ride over the fairy chimneys, what a dream.

We actually made it out to Cappadocia and stayed a couple of days there, but cheaped out on the hot air balloon ride. That's my biggest travel regret.

Been there several times saw lots of stuff. But subways are interesting. Moscow stations are quite ornate too

Try to go back and do it. Not a huge world travel, but my friend told me about Cappadocia and it was unreal. So interesting and memorable. And the hot air balloon is the cherry on top. Not sure where else you could do anything quite like that.
