The whole thing was an accident! What if mom didn't even see it happen? This waas an ACCIDENT. They happen. I'd be upset too but omg, ACCIDENT. |
Check for skull fractures and hematomas. |
| Lock that negligent mom up! |
nobody is required to carry health insurance. That’s why many don’t have it. |
You do realize that you don’t find out you have a concussion until you actually go correct? It’s not like you just know. They check to make sure you don’t have a serious brain injury. It’s a head injury-most people tend to take those pretty seriously. That being said it seems like many on this thread maybe have had some they have chosen to ignore. |
We are required to carry car insurance because the injuries and damage are often severe and expensive- not because those accidents are somehow different from other accidents where misuse, negligence, or carelessness causes and injury. A water bottle isn’t meant to be dropped from high above. Throwing/dropping a heavy metal water bottle from 12 ft above, while an accident, is negligent. You were supposed to be holding on to it. Kids playing tennis in a group class and one of the balls hits the coach square in the eye; scratches his cornea. That’s an accident, but wasn’t negligent. |
Why should OPs pay for it when they didn’t cause it? If someone’s kid dents your car with their door should your insurance cover it or theirs? |
|
I totally get the OP's anger. Yes it could have been an accident but frankly I would not be shocked if it was done on purpose by the 6 year old. I was at a kids park once sitting on a bench under a tree house and those rope web crawling tunnels. I felt water dripping on me and thought a bird had pooped in me. Turns out a 5-7 year old kid was up in that tunnel spitting at me. On purpose. And honestly the parent's reaction here makes me think it was not a simple accident. What normal human being, when their kid hurts another person, doesn't come and apologize? Wtf.
But there is no way to prove anything, so this falls under that gray zone of can't do much. It also is a situation where the reaction of the adults could have maybe affected how OP felt about the whole situation. If the other parent had checked on her, apologized, looked modified, offered to help, then maybe OP would actually be more willing to accept that sh*t happens. |
I agree completely. I think a big part of the issue is the other parent’s reaction. Some people really just don’t care if others live or die based on their actions. It’s amazing how far a little compassion can go and it seems like this other mom showed 0. |
| Where do you live OP because both you and the other mom sound insane and I don’t want to go anywhere near your neighborhood. |
WTF. If you know you injured someone, you do the right thing and take responsibility for it. OP is not off base, at all. |
| I was injured in ES in the 70s on the playground because of some stupid thing another kid did and the other family paid for our medical expenses because it’s the decent thing to do. Who raised you people. |
Uhm, yes you are. But either way, OP has health insurance which is the only course of action she needs to take. |
No-they are not. some people make too much to qualify for medicaid and make too little to afford health insurance. it’s not a requirement. I didn’t have health insurance for about 5 years. it’s not illegal to live without health insurance. |
| OP how did you get home? Surely you didn’t drive your kids home if so badly injured? |
