| Three months from a big event think wedding or reunion. Mid 40s. Never done any cosmetic skin treatments — no Botox, no chemical peels, nada. Fair skin. Who can I go to/what should I ask to do? What’s the best bang for your buck with this timeline? Virginia-side, but willing to go DC/MD. I’m not really price sensitive for this event. I am lazy and skeptical I will keep it up but whatever? I also would love for someone experienced to give me some advice, a consult, but I don’t see that offered at the MedSpas I have seen? It’s more like: what service do you want and I dunno. |
| What are your skin concerns? Fine lines? Redness? Uneven skin tone or texture? I think we need more information. |
| Go to a good dermatologist and see what they recommend. They might just have you start tretinoin but there might be a laser worth doing for you. |
|
agree with going to a cosmetic dermatologist.
I'm not up on the latest, but I'd say Botox, some kind of laser for wrinkles, redness, evening of tone, and/or tretinoin and a light peel (or whatever the latest is these days). |
|
By default my derm would recommend starting tretinoin, really good sunscreen routine if you don't already have one, and a "baby starter laser" like clear and brilliant.
Maybe also hydroquinone pads or other lasers if you have melasma or specific issues to address. |
| OP here. I see a regular dermatologist who does an overall skin check. That’s it. I’m guessing that’s not the right kind of dermatologist. Seeing all these medspa links with sculpting and peels and lasers; it’s overwhelming. Any recs for a consult-type cosmetic dermatologist to do the things you all mention in, say, McLean/Arlington/upper NW? |
You still haven’t told us about *your* skin. |
| Go to capital laser and go asap because some procedures take a month or so to see the full results. |
| Laser and Botox. Ask around for referrals near you. |
| You can pay for a consult at most places. |

Botox, drinking lots of water, a great moisturizer
For the long term sunscreen and tret. But ease into tret, it can make your skin look worse before it gets better (at least that was my experience) |
| Botox and Tret. But start right now. |
| Try a simple facial. Do a test run to see how your skin reacts and which day it looks best (two days after for me) and then schedule one accordingly before your event. |
| See a Dermatologist. |
| My skin tone has evened out tremendously since quitting drinking alcohol and caffeine two months ago. I drink a ton of water. |
