I’m trying to find info on summer volleyball camps for a 12 year old 7th grader. She started volleyball ball a year ago and plays rec once a week.
I’m trying to get summer camps lined up now! |
| Where are you located OP? Montgomery County Rec doesn't post volleyball summer camps until the spring. Not sure about clubs, but I think their camp schedules come out later as well. |

My DD fell in love with volleyball when we signed her up for a summer camp with Maryland Sports Academy (they organized the camps were at the Adventist Healthcare Sports Center in Boyds MD). I saw them offering the camps the following years, but we only signed up for one more camp after that first year (if I remember correctly). My DD got to the level where she needed better coaching and we tried to focus on clinics / leagues offered by clubs. This information may only be useful to you if you live in MD, so I agree with the previous poster: you need to specify your location.
As a general idea: look up the thread https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1219014.page, where you can find summer camps that were posted last summer. You can assume that most of them will be available next summer. Make a list and check them out periodically to make sure you don't miss them when they open their registration. |
| The link posted to older thread says it’s not found. My kiddo did Marymount Univ summer commuter clinics in Arlington. A lot of play / touches and great immersive experience. She was exhausted at the end of each day. Libero vb had a whole bunch of different camps and clinics all summer in Sterling. Depends on whether you are looking for multi day camps or ongoing clinics. But lots of different options come up. |
| Last summer my son did camps at Marymount (for boys - I don’t know if they have girls programs), Navy (fills fast! Many more girls than boys), and Lewis University (my in laws live nearby so it was doable for us and was the biggest hit of all 3). |
| What did he like about Lewis that was different? |
| She might like Bishop Ireton |
Lewis had a coach that was headed to Paris for the Olympics. Young guy, got 0minutes in Paris, but my son was starstruck. They have a phenomenal men’s volleyball program though, I think they play D1 despite being a small school. Maybe D2, but my son loved it. I think my son would like the school too, so we’re going to encourage going again this summer. |
It's because the comma was included in the link: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1219014.page |
Unfortunately, I think most volleyball summer stuff won't be announced for a while. Here are some ideas on where to look for options though. As others have noted some rec agencies will have leagues or camps in the summer. Many of the local clubs have summer camps, but they tend to be posted later. Clubs are just starting to ramp up into the tournament part of their season and most won't post anything about camp for a couple months. For local clubs, you can probably get a sense from looking at their Instagram to see when they started publicizing camps last year. Looks like Paramount announced summer camps in April, Metro in March, MDJRs in April, etc. If you aren't familiar with the local club landscape, there is a list at https://www.chrvajuniors.org/juniors/contacts_clubs/clubs_search.cfm. Most of the local colleges that have volleyball have some kind of summer camps. And some high schools will have camps too. |
